Ric-Tat

English Version:

It is with mixed emotions when I wrote this, I don’t know what had happened to the kind nature of human beings. Just barely a week after my mum passed on, my dad got sacked by his company (Ric-Tat) for taking too much leave.

It is not as if my dad took leave without informing or for personal leisure reasons. He took leave is simply because that hosting the wake is the last thing that he could do for his beloved Wife.

Or maybe perhaps this event is not classified as important reasons for his boss but come on, if the death of a loved ones happened to you, would it be considered as important and valid reasons for taking leave?

YOLO.

After reading Jimmy’s lament, his friends suggested that he make a complaint to the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) to get justice for this illegal sacking. However, Jimmy was stoic and resigned to fate. He said: “I doubt that complaining to MOM helps, the company can always crap up a story to defend. This kind of issue is like helpless and speechless kind”

Is this the state of affairs in Singapore? Can workers get no justice despite such unfair work practices taking place? Will Singaporeans step up and help this man get the justice he deserve?
